The Truth About Pet Food

Check your pet food ingredients label!

You may be feeding a "premium" or "super premium" dog or cat food based on what you learned about the food in the past, or because of the extensive advertising on TV. Or you may feed a generic food from Sam's or Wal-Mart because you believe it to be a good deal. Many name brands, including highly respected name brands, have changed so much in the past few years that the ingredients in the food are not even similar to the ingredients that were in the food when it earned its excellent reputation. The generic food may be a good deal, or even at a rock bottom price, but it may have so litttle nutritional value that it's bad for you pet.

These huge corportations, in their greed, have leftthe door open for a number of smaller companies that do not have a billion dollar advertising budget but are willing to put the health and well-being of your pet as their primary concern. Check the ingredients!

Because of globalization, huge international coporations, and the idea that profit is the only concern, many foods are just not worth the price or worse they are actually causing diseases of the kidney or pancreas, skin allergies, obesity, unrinary problems, etc. Please learn to read the label on the front of the bag and look carefully at the ingredients list.

Canines and felines are predators!

They are meat eaters. Cats are acknowledged carnivores but dogs are considered by many to be omnivorous (eating meat and plant material). Others consider dogs carnivores that have learned to scavenge for man's leftovers. However, the farmer may worry about the stray dog getting into his chicken house, but I have never heard of him worrying about a dog getting into his soybean, wheat or corn field.
